The band was delighted to be asked to play for Cllr Malcolm Greer, the Mayor of Maidstone’s chairy concert – ‘Raise the Roof’ at All Saint’s Church.  The concert, which featured 7 choirs as well as the band, totalled over 350 performers and was in aid of the Mayor’s three chosen charities – The Blackthorn Trust, Kent Lung Awareness and The Maidstone Sea Cadets, as well as All Saints Restoration Fund.

Each of the groups performed a 12 to 15 minute programme with the band’s programme including a selection from Les Miserables (at the request of the Mayor), Moon River and There’s No Business Like Show Business.  Les Miserables was accompanied by the Hilton Hall Dance Academy who had developed a routine to fit the music.  The band’s performance was highly acclaimed by the large audience and received a standing ovation from a number of the concertgoers.

For the finale at the end of the concert, all of the choirs and the band got together for a joint performance of two pieces – Handel’s ‘Hallelujah Chorus’ and Westlife’s ‘You Raise Me Up’.
