Playing Dean Jones’ Glorifico Aeternum, the Band were placed second out of nine competing bands in the First Section of the 2008 Autumn Contest at Folkestone’s Leas Cliff Hall .
Ian Lanceley, the Band’s Principal Cornet player was awarded the cup for the Best Instrumentalist in the First Section. This was particularly remarkable as Ian had only resumed playing eight days before the contest following an enforced two month layoff due to a broken arm.
